'Sky High Siesta' Cashmere Travel Set (Black)

I didn’t actually “need” this but I love cashmere for its softness and lightweight warmth, and I was intrigued by the idea of a poncho design because I thought it was a great idea to design a little blanket you could wear – while traveling or even as a lightweight wrap for a cool evening. I am so happy with this poncho! Fit: It was hard to understand the shape of the poncho from the listing photos, so I have attached my own pictures here. I am 5’3” and the front edge hits me at mid-thigh, the back goes to mid-butt, and the sides are a bit shorter and hit right at the hips. The neckline is just right – not so tight that it’s hard to get over your head, and not so wide open that your neck is exposed to drafts. The cut and the drape of it are surprisingly flattering! I had expected a big loose baggy fit, but although it’s comfortably roomy, it does show some body shape. Look at my photos and you will see an excellent design element – the poncho has attachments at the wrists so that the entire garment stays in place, rather than sliding all around. Comfort: It’s the hot, hot summer here but I have tested the warmth against too-chilly air conditioning and the poncho is light and warm but not too hot. I think the poncho design allows for air flow where a sweater with closer fit would be warmer. The cashmere is SO SOFT. Not only soft to the touch, but it has a very pleasant drape to it, so that you feel it enfolding your body in a comforting way. I guess it’s like wearing your favorite blanky! I think this will be perfect for spring or fall. And for travel. Quality: The quality of the cashmere seems quite good – not thin. The construction also looks solid. I have not yet tried to launder it and I won’t until it really needs cleaning because I think excessive washing will wear it out sooner. Fortunately the black will hide a lot of dirt! I have washed cashmere in cold water, and laid it flat to dry, which works very well – dry cleaning is also a good option. Important note: The moths always find my cashmere. I’ve read they prefer the softness of this type of wool. Protect it inside a sealed bag!Additional note: The pictures in the listing made me wonder if the poncho might have a hood. There is no hood. The eye shade that is included is soft and well sized. I am using this regularly now. It comes nicely boxed and would make a wonderful gift. Yes, a luxury item, but one I will be happy to use, and not just for special occasions. With proper care this poncho should last a long time.

Okay, first of all, let me say I'm not the type of person that has ever spent my own money on cashmere. That's way out of my wheelbox, but I will say the quality is definitely there. You can tell that the material is very fine it does keep you warm. I'm very happy to own it. And if you're in the market for something like this to keep you warm on a plane ride or a car ride and you like fine material like cashmere, then this is for you.
